LIDL gives green light to leaf marque on UK fresh produce

Lidl GB has announced that it will see its entire British fresh produce supplier base achieving ‘LEAF Marque’ certification by the end of 2023. LEAF Marque is a leading global environmental assurance system, run by global farming organisation LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), recognising more sustainably-farmed products.

Plans unveiled to ban single-use plastics

Single-use plastic plates, cutlery, expanded and extruded polystyrene cups and food and beverage containers could all be phased out, in the latest Government bid to eliminate all avoidable plastic waste. According to estimates, England uses 1.1 billion single-use plates and 4.25 billion items of single-use cutlery — most of which are plastic — per year, but only 10% are recycled upon disposal.

Morrisons to co-own world leading soft plastic recycling site in UK

More than 60 per cent of the UK want business to take immediate action to tackle climate change – and do more to help their customers ‘go green’. A new national survey commissioned by sustainability charity WRAP shows that a majority of consumers believe companies across industry need to do more when it comes to tackling emissions to help the UK meet tough, binding environmental targets for 2050.
