Westpak recently exhibited at the 2024 ‘Lunch!’ show which ran from the 18th-19th September at ExCeL London. A number of exciting new food packaging innovations were featured on Westpak’s stand, including HeatWave, which won the highest possible Gold level award as part of the event’s ‘Innovation Challenge’.
Lunch! Innovation Challenge
Westpak’s pizza box heat-retention liner ‘HeatWave’ has featured across various awards and publication throughout 2024. At the Lunch show, the product was featured as one of the qualifying entries for their ‘Innovation Challenge’. This saw more than sixty qualifying entries across all exhibitors collated into a gallery. Castors could then cast their vote as to what they believed was the strongest innovation on show. HeatWave secured enough votes from those in attendance at the event to qualify for the following live final with product pitches to a panel of expert judges from across the foodservice industry. After detailing the all of the unique innovations that sets HeatWave apart, we were thrilled to be awarded the highest possible Gold award! The event website commented
“The judges said what an innovative way to improve the customer experience with hotter pizza and no soggy bottom!. They were very impressed”.
Other key highlights
Of course, HeatWave’s success at the Innovation Challenge wasn’t the only highlight for Westpak at this year’s Lunch show. A number of other key foodservice packaging innovations were on display including SushiPack – a packaging line designed exclusively for takeaway sushi to provide a seamless and secure font, StikLok – a range of tamper-evident bags that offer a vital additional peace of mind for delivery foodservice platforms, and AgriBlend a comprehensive foodservice packaging range manufactured from agricultural waste with zero wood fibres.
