Westpak Group Ltd have been confirmed as shortlisted for the category of ‘Innovations in Packaging’ at the 2023 Footprint Awards. This nomination centres on the key manufacturing and sustainability innovations behind Westpak’s ‘Crave’ foodservice packaging range.

The Footprint Awards are run by ‘Foodservice Footprint’, a leading online website, community and publication resource providing in-depth insights into sustainability and ‘environmental, social, and governance’ (ESG) issues in the ever-changing food and drink industry.

Entires for the awards are judged by an expert panel of ESG and foodservice specialists with awards given across twelve categories that examine the latest sustainability initiatives and innovations in the industry.

Central to Westpak’s nomination for the ‘Innovations in Packaging’ category was the development of the ‘Crave’ foodservice packaging range. This collection of six takeaway boxes that has provided foodservice and QSR chains with a commercially viable and practical packaging option that offers numerous, quantifiable sustainability benefits while maintaining absolute practicality and versatility.

The success of Westpak’s Crave range is largely due to the innovative materials that provide a departure from traditional plastic takeaway containers. Since being launched into the UK foodservice market over the last year, additional investment has been made into production and storage capacity to keep pace with strong demand. The range has appeared in major foodservice outlets such as Gourmet Burger Kitchen and has led to additional packaging designs that utilise the same material technology and manufacturing processes.

Westpak will be attending the awards presentation evening at the headquarters of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London on the 8th June 2023.
